I am sure to some how we celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary is lame, boring or just blah, but guess what..... it is just how we wanted it!
Friday I ended up getting the boys off to Grandpa and Grandma's house. Then I proceeded to go home and get our house ready for GAME NIGHT!!!! We had our friends Mike and Melissa, Amy and Harvey and Pat and Kelly over for a night of laughs (mostly at me.... Europe), drinks (7 bottles of wine and two cases of beer) and cake (Steve ended up ordering a replica of our wedding cake from the lady who made it and it was soooo good and soooo fattening, but we all had some)! The night came to an end around 2 am when finally Melissa and Steve told me to stop talking so she could go home. Sorry guys!!
Saturday (our anniversary day) Steve and I got up and headed down to McDonalds for breakfast and then to Menards to purchase paint. That is right boys and girls we painted on this glorious day! It took two coats and a total of 4 hours to complete. Once it was complete Steve thought that the couch just didn't go with the room anymore (well what do you expect... the couch is 10 years old and has been through 1 apartment, 3 duplexes and 2 homes, but dang is it still in great shape). So after we got the second coat on the wall we headed down to WG&R and La-z Boy store. Well, nothing fancied our fancy at WG&R so onward to La-z Boy and low and behold there she was... the couch. Well of course we couldn't buy it right there and then because we had to measure to make sure it would fit in the living room (just barely.. ) and go with the recliner (it does). So after we left the store we went and picked up our friends Mike and Melissa and we went to Little Tokyo (the best place on earth) for dinner to celebrate the big day. It was a great time at LT and it was even better having the Smits with us since they have been a part of everything for the past billion years (okay more like 8 but whos counting). So after 2 bottles of wine, crab ragoon, sushi, teryaki chicken and the almighty shrimp sauce we took the Smits home and we also went home and called it a night.
Sunday we picked the boys up and ended up going to yet another furniture store to see if they had anything we liked. Steve found a couch/love seat set but I just didn't feel it. So as of this posting we have not purchased anything.... but I have a feeling La-z Boy may have made a sale with us in the coming hours or days. :)
I will post pictures soon.
