Hockey Game

Saturday night Jack got to experience his first hockey game. (Alex stayed home with G&G H. They had a very easy night, Alex fell asleep about 30 minutes after we left.) It was the Green Bay Gamblers vs Chicago Steel. We got the tickets through the Y and thought hey why not and worse case we leave within 30 minutes. Well needless to say, Jack made it til the end of the second period (almost two hours). He had a blast and wanted to skate too. He was in love with the Zamboni and was sad when they left the ice rink. Here are a few pictures from the game.

The Weekend Part II

Sorry this is a little late compared to Jen's update, but better late than never ! Last weekend Jack and I took a "road trip" (as he likes to call it) to Illinois to visit Aunt Jen, Nick and Mya. Our weekend began around noon on Friday. I got off work a little early and when I arrived home, Jack was more than ready to get in the "bus" and begin the trip! Once we got on the road, Jack was too excited to nap, but told him we could only play with Nick and Mya if he took a nap...so within 2 minutes he was sound asleep! 90 minuted later he woke up and was disappointed to find out we were not there yet and for next hour continued to say Nick and Mya lived "far-far-away". Once we got there, he took off to the basement to play with the big blocks and Mya's kitchen. Friday night went to dinner at On the Border - a great Mexican restaurant. Jack had a corn dog and Mexican rice - what a good little eater he is! That night Jack and I slept in the basement. I made him a bed on the floor, but not long after he fell asleep, he decided sleeping on the couch with me would be better, so cuddled on the couch all night!

Saturday he woke up at 7:30, which for Jack is sleeping-in. Once up, he was ready to start playing again with Mya. Those two were inseparable all weekend. Even while eating, Jack had to move his chair right next to Mya and wanted his plate touching her's. She was a good sport for the first few times, but by Sunday she no longer wanted Jack to sit by her. I think she wanted a little space! We did not leave the house on Saturday because it was so cold, so it was a lazy day. I think Jack's favorite thing to do on Saturday was play in Nick's bunk bed and climb up and down the ladder. That evening, Jen decided to have a "slumber party" and sleep in the basement with Nick, Mya and Jack. I got to sleep upstairs in Mya's bed...well for a couple hours at least. Around midnight, Jen brought Jack up to me because he was crying and was looking for me. So, for the second night in a row, we cuddled at night while Jack and I shared Mya's twin bed. When Jack woke up however, he was sad because he wanted to be apart of the slumber party and did not remember getting up looking me. He soon got over it once he saw Nick and Mya. After breakfast on Sunday, I knew it was about time to go as the kids, specifically Jack and Mya, had enough bonding time a needed a little break from each other...sharing was beginning to become difficult! We had lunch and decided to hit the road. Jack was definitely ready for his nap, so I loaded up the van and we gave hugs and kisses! I was not on the road for 2 minutes and Jack was sleeping and did not wake up until we got to Fond du Lac! On the way back home, we stopped at Grandma and Grandpa Van Nulands to drop off some "stuff" from Aunt Jen and watch the beginning of the Packer game. While there, Jen and Alex decided to spend one more night in Neillsville. Since G & G V usually watch the boys on Mondays, Jack spent Sunday night there and I got to go home...alone!!! It is nice from time to time to have a night alone, even if it is just to sleep.

By Monday, Jack was really missing Mommy and Alex and by 5pm, that night, everyone was back under one roof and I could definitely tell Jack was extremely happy to see his little brother....and his mommy too!

The Weekend Part I

Friday started off with excitement and little patience. Jack was so pumped to go on a road trip with Dad to Aunt Jen's house that he couldn't wait for Steve to get home from work (he only worked half a day). Steve finally arrived home at 11ish and Jack was ready to go.... then he was told not until after lunch. When they were eating lunch Alex and I left on our road trip to Neillsville.

I will blog about Alex and my trip and I will have Steve write up his weekend with Jack later tonight.

Alex was such a trooper on the drive. I have to thank my lucky stars, both of my kids are travelers. Alex slept two hours and the last 45 minutes of the drive he was playing with his toys that I handed him. (I have to make a plug on a product here...... Who ever invented the mirror so you can see your child when they are sitting backwards deserves to be a millionaire! I LOVE my Fisher Price car seat mirror!!!! I never have to wonder what Alex is doing, if he spit up, if he is sleeping, if he is blinded by the sun, why he is crying or just plain old bored. If you don't have one.... get one!! I swear you will love it!)

Okay back to the story.... We arrived right when Grandma H got home from work. Needless to say, as soon as my parents saw Alex I was out of the picture. So Friday night Alex ended up staying up until 10pm. (That has never happened. He is usually sleeping by 6:30-7:30) Well how could he sleep when G&G and Jill were having their usual Scrabble competition. Yes, Jill I will let everyone know you won.

Saturday, Grandma, Jill and I went to Eau Claire to do a bit of shopping. Alex and Grandpa had an entire day of bonding which they had a blast playing and sleeping! Our bit of shopping turned into a huge purchase... Grandma bought a 50" plasma TV. After three hours of contemplating and calling Grandpa asking if she should or not she took the plunge! So we got back to Nville and Jill and I carried the old TV downstairs and then put the new TV up and got it going. WOW, that is all I can say. It is HUGE, but very cool. So mom you made a good purchase and be ready for a house full of people for all major sporting events and for the Cubbie season! :)

Sunday we went to church in the morning and then went to Marshfield to see Juno (what a good movie!) Then after dinner and right before I was going to head out the door I made a last minute decision to stay an extra day. Monday Alex and I headed to to Green Bay around lunch time and man that drive sucked! Alex slept pretty much the whole way home but the roads were for crap! We got home and waited for Jack to arrive from G&G V's house. Once he did all he wanted to do was hang out with Alex. I had to practically beg for a hug and a kiss. So the rest of the night the boys hung out and had a great time beating on each other or should I say Alex beating on Jack, who by the way loved every minute of it! I give it a couple more months and that will all change!

I will have Steve make his post soon and as soon as Jill emails me pictures from this weekend I will post those as well.

What a week/weekend

By gosh I think we have healthy boys! Well minus running noses and sneezing. We had two good nights of sleep in a row (yipee!!!!). Alex cut two teeth in the last five days and it looks like the bottoms are starting. Only three teeth to go and we should be good to go until around April/May!!

This weekend was good. Saturday I opened the Y and did a bunch of things around the house. Jack got to play outside a bit and helped shovel the snow, made snow angels and a snowman. Alex was running around the house like a mad man in his walker. Sunday we had a lazy day and did some baking and cooking.

This coming week there doesn't seem to be much going on. Steve works at the Y tonight and nothing until Friday. Steve and Jack are heading down to IL to see Jen and the kids. Alex and I are going to head the opposite direction (well kind of) to the big town of Neillsville to visit G&G H and I think Jill will be making the trip as well.

I Love Teething

Poor little man is getting three of his top teeth all at the same time. The last couple of nights have been rough. He just can't get comfortable and Orejal is his new best friend. Hopefully they will pop through soon (like tonight!).

This weekend we didn't do too much and the flu was still at our house. Friday Alex ended up throwing up in the morning and thankfully Grandpa V was willing to take Jack for a few hours (thank you again!). Then Mr Man got home and within two hours he threw up. I tell ya! Thankfully that was the last of the throwing up for them.

Saturday night I went out with Amy and we had a blast. We ended up going out to dinner and then went over to my friend Melissa's house to play games and hang out. Four, five or six bottles of wine and five hours later we were home snug in our beds. Sunday we had a lazy day which is always nice.

Steve had guys night last night. To the guys who met up last night.... it is hard to post pictures when none where taken. Maybe next month, so make sure you all have your best "matching" shirts on! ha ha

We caught it

We caught it.... the flu bug that is. Thursday after picking the boys up from Amy's the fun began. (Amy, I am so sorry if any of the other kids catch this.) Alex ended up throwing up three times in 2 hours and Jack followed after that. Lets just say no one got any sleep that night. Then Friday Alex started up again and Jack was fine so luckily Grandpa V took Jack for a few hours while I cuddled with Alex. Then Steve went and picked up Jack and within two hours he threw up again. Last night was much, much better. Jack slept all night and Alex woke up around 3 and went back to sleep. Today had been a good day so far... no puking yet and lots of smiles and sassiness.
